A Little Bit About Me:

I’m Erin and I’m so glad you’re here!

I love my job and I feel so lucky to get the opportunity to do the work that I do. I support adolescents and young adults in their journey of becoming who they are and growing into confident, functional, thriving human beings!

Credentials:

MSW, University of Montana // M.Ed, Montana State University - Billings

I work with kids, teens, and young adults to support them in growing into their best and healthiest selves.

I’m passionate about creating a safe space for individuals to learn to identify and express their emotions, learn coping skills, and build confidence and resilience.

Growing up, I struggled with chronic upset stomachs, headaches, and issues sleeping. I went to doctors and specialists and nothing was “wrong with me.” As I began studying psychology and mental health, I realized that what I had been experiencing growing up was high levels of stress and anxiety - my family and I just didn’t have the language for it. I think that this realization really fueled my passion for working with individuals and families to support identifying emotions and helping others gain the language to externalize what they’re feeling and experiencing. From there, we get to work together to find ways to manage it when we can identify what it actually is!

Outside of the office:

When I’m not in the office or behind the telehealth screen, you can find me playing outside in the mountains with Mango (she’s more than just an office dog!), traveling to see friends and family scattered across the globe, laughing until I cry with the people I love, or reading a good book with a cup of tea in hand.

What do you do in a therapy session?

On multiple occasions, I’ve been asked, “Have you fixed them yet?”

Most of the time, this is said jokingly by parents; however, sometimes, there is a thread of seriousness in the question. I wholeheartedly believe that human beings, regardless of age, do not need to be fixed. I believe that they are enough as they are in their personhood. They are enough. You are enough.

My Approach:

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and authentic. Using empathy and humor, I utilize techniques and skills derived from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). CBT aims to target problematic thought patterns and identify how thoughts influence behavior and emotions whereas DBT aims to manage intense emotions that impact behaviors (often self-destructive) and relationships (often turbulent) and teach skills that support self-acceptance and change.

If clients are a good fit, I also practice Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, which seeks to help the brain process distressing and disturbing memories by reducing their emotional and physiological impact. It is not my job to “fix” anyone – it is my job to be an added layer of support who can come alongside, teach coping skills, provide education and help provide tangible tools, facilitate conversations for growth, and, hopefully, share some fun and laughter throughout the process.

More About Me...

Fun fact:

I was born and raised in Bozeman! I left for college and as a young adult, I swore I would never come back, but there’s a magic to this place that eventually brought me back and I couldn’t be more grateful both to be back and to have had the chance to leave and experience new places that changed the way that I understood the world around me.
